Stand on Grace

A few days ago I went to the LTO to get our vehicle registered. I was a bit anxious going through the registration process, thinking that the money I prepared was not enough to pay for the registration fee. I racked my brain for possible options where I could get the additional cash in case I did not have enough. But surprisingly, after praying hard to make my money enough, by God's grace, the total registration fee turned out to be just a third of the money I brought along with me. I was able to use the remainder as payment for credit card bills due on the same day.

God's grace is truly amazing. The Amazing Grace hymn speaks of God's grace as a gift of redemption, the grace that forces us to repent and go back to the path He has chosen for us. The call of grace makes me question whether I am worthy. What have I done to deserve this? A question we seldom ask to challenge God's grace. If taken positively, it means we don't have to earn such a privilege but it is simply given to us at God's initiative. It is the ultimate expression of God's love for us, the very nature of God's being. God's grace is manifested through His son Jesus Christ. Christ is grace himself. It is this grace that makes us all believers, that allows us to choose to serve God and makes us Disciples of Christ.

Understanding God's grace in a different light is a blessing. The grace of God is not only seen as a gift but a call to repent. We are being called to stand on kindness and graciousness, called to be faithful to God's covenant and called to give grace to anybody and be like Jesus everyday.

Life may be kind and mean to us sometimes but fear not for God is with us every step of the way. The grace of God is ours for the taking, only if we reach out and get hold of it!
